Princely splendours at a bargain price The hotel was once a prince’s palace, apparently, and it still feels properly palatial, though some may find the decoration a bit excessive. Prices are surprisingly reasonable, however. Bedrooms are spacious, traditionally furnished, comfortable and well-equipped. Breakfast, which was fine by Italian standards, was in the remarkably quiet courtyard garden. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. Although we arrived very late (due to a delayed flight), they helped us find a parking space and a restaurant that was still open. Best of all, not a trace of piped music anywhere.
